Garden of life: the fate of a rose

The flowers blossom in the garden, unaware of what future holds. Some are     picked, commercialized and delivered as desired.

Fulfilling human wishes to their best…

The moment of happiness is not forever and so is their life. The fate of the dried flowers is never known. They might be thrown away heartlessly somewhere or…

may be preserved to be cherished forever!

Unconvinced and unsure of what the future holds...
In that garden far away my story unfolds...

I grow, I blossom until I am made a souvenir...
In their hands I dwell and in their smiles sincere.

I ain’t no eternal, I wither, vanish and descend...
Some hurl me out in filth to die, others preserve me without end!

  2. Did I see roses in all the pictures... or did I not?

Digital cameras have done a great dis-service to genuine b/w photography with its flowing tones and controlled textures... it is so easy to open photoshop and with one click convert dizzying colours into gray-scale!

Is this what we mean by b/w photography?

  3. Arvind,

The different shades in B/W photography did not come with Digital Camera. Before the advent of Digital cameras, photographers were able to achieve different shades / effects in b/w photography using different kind of films/ different chemicals and / or different filters/ exposures.

Coming to this set of photographs- none of them have been put on Photoshop. However, the photographs have been post processed and post processing is as important to photography as clicking the shutter is.

In the age of digital cameras even if the photographs were taken in b/w mode, it would just mean bringing down Saturation to zero.

    Thanks
    Purnendu

PS: There are Roses in all the pictures. This set has gone through Quality assurance.

  12. brilliant pics....i love clickin flowers n have always done it by taking their colourful appearnc in account never even tried clickin flowers in b/w mode...but aftr this i ll surely do it 4 sure...i loved the theme...spl the part stating their turn souvenirs of memories and r cherishd 4evr...:)...lovely entry n best of luck 4 the contest...:)

p.s. i did read a commnt stating " it is so easy to open photoshop and with one click convert dizzying colours into gray-scale! "....i would just like to mention photo editing in itslf is also n art u over do it it messes with the authenticity of the pic and u underdo it it is completely evident n steals the charm of the pic...n not all cams r dslrs or nor does everyone carry a digicam around the neck all the time u might get a really nice view wen u r walkin around n would like to click it wid ur mobile cam of say 2 mp which is ur only option but u can enhance it a bit later using photoshop n its no crime its still photography if ur pic can convey wat u thought of wen u 1st saw it...n btw again using adobe photoshop is no piece of a cake...so i kinda appreciate pics tat have been edited properly widout tampering much wid the original look...:)
